  1. Hardest D1 competition ever

    I can't believe today's competition was only a D1.

    We had a B, a C, and a D who is in the US to further his education and is a member of his country's national team. We also had 6Es. We had 30 competitors.

    As anyone can tell by looking at the rating chart, this was a D1 competition.

    I am so bummed... I finished 5th and if we had had one more D rated fencer, I'd have a D. But then again, if we'd had one more D rated fencer, the seeding would have been different ...

  2. Creepy Whiny Thoughts

    I finally got to fence today. Honestly, it was my motivation for the week. I was looking so forward to fencing. I need to train more if I am not going to be done at Nationals in about 15 minutes. I hate it when a 3 minute bout lasts 30 seconds. Scot was not there today so I fenced another left handed fencer. He is an AB. I could not do anything right.

    All semester I watched videos of myself teaching those darn whipper snappers. At first it was hard not to wince and squirm a bit in my seat. Not going to lie; I made mistakes. After a while, it became less uncomfortable and less helpful. I knew what I did wrong immediately and didn't need the video playback.

    Ideally, a similar process would happen for my fencing. A lot of my gear is breaking down. I'm down to my last sabre or two (I think). Broke a couple in the past few weeks. Not ...
