  1. Ripples in my Reflecting

    by , 04-02-2009 at 05:38 PM
Ah, poetic tones ring across the city lights as my fingers scamper across the keyboard.

I know for a fact something my coaches have said to me from time to time is my mentality is as much of a boon as bane when it comes to fencing. Or should I say, that my mentality is more concerned with the factors associated with the fencing rather than the actual sport. They were right, and maybe they still are, but now I'm making more of a conscious effort to move away from that. It's easier now ...

  2. I got you fatty. I got you.

    by , 04-02-2009 at 05:02 PM
    Dear Diary,

Lots of people don't understand my sense of humor. Especially over the internet on internet forums. I like to carry jokes on. I also believe in justice. My favorite comic book character at one time was the Punisher.

I was getting frustrated that this plan of mine wasn't working. That all changed today. Hearing FF's anger and annoyance in both the forum and his own blog was such an exquisite experience, I cannot even begin to communicate it properly, because ...

    ELBOW IN

It is absolutely beyond my why my elbow's natural resting state is that of a chicken wing. Is REALLY pisses me off. Looking at videos, there are some pretty clear parry 4's that got screwed up because my elbow was out instead of in. Result? I parried the opponents tip into my gut. Great.

Controlling my anger is also something that's still tough for me. I remember to try and keep a pure spirit when competing, but sometimes during practice i lose focus.

  4. Poaching - is it a sin?

    by , 04-02-2009 at 12:27 PM
Forgive me, father, for I have sinned. Well, maybe not sinned, but the intent to poach is ever-present in my heart. It's this community center thing again.

Last week, one of the kids in our basic (intro) class joined me at my club on my usual sabre/foil night. (No, I do not do foil anymore, but I'm happy to introduce new folks around.) He and his mom had done things the right way, asking the main instructor about alternative programs, because he wanted to fence more seriously. Of course, ...

  5. My fencing blows ass

    by , 04-02-2009 at 05:51 AM
I have some glimmer of hope from time to time but for the most part it blows.

Foil here is like 6 fencers. Total. If we have a tourney we're lucky to field 20.

So gay. Gay Gay Gay. Our best foilist is my former coach and is now a coach at a competing club. However, he doesnt fence much. Yet still he manages to make the finals most of the time. Good guy too. He usually destroys me like 15-2 but hey, he's fenced all his life and is great at it.

    My problem is ...
