  1. Three more pounds

    by , 03-23-2009 at 07:47 PM
Upon returning from Atlanta, I gained 5 pounds in a couple of days and no, it wasn't just temporary weight. I binged.

I've managed to stay caffeine-free and M&M free and I've gradually increased the number of crunches I'm doing until I'm at 250 today.

One would THINK that I would have lost those 5 pounds by now. Right?

Sigh! Old age is not only a b!tch, she's a cruel, heartless b!tch with a sick sense of humor.

At least dropping 2 of the ...

  2. In Which Our (anti)Hero Finds the Zennith

    by , 03-23-2009 at 01:26 PM
    of the Anticlimax.

Hamtaur was found scurrying across someone's feet.

Three days later, a student thought it intelligent to put hamtaur in a BROKEN hamster ball. Fifteen minutes later, the gravely bumpy sounds of the hollow ball no longer fills the classroom, and we find Hamtaur has escaped. I promptly eviscerated the thoughtless student, and left his innards strewn about the classroom as Hamtaur bait.
Hamtaur was found two hours later in the sack of Hamster food. ...

I've been doing alot of thinking recently, considering how much driving I've been doing. Have lots of time alone in a car, gotta think about somethin.

So I was thinking about refereeing, and why I do it. Its funny, the reasons I started reffing are very different from the reasons I do it now.

For the life of me, I can't exactly remember why I attended my first reffing seminar. The ideas of money sounded good (being able to make over $100 in a day for a kid with ...

  4. Still detoxing

    by , 03-22-2009 at 05:48 PM
Thursday's lesson was horrible in that I didn't have two functional brain cells working in my head that night. Saturday was better both because we had a guest who is a very good fencer and because I seem to be returning to normal after de-toxing.

I did eat cake for the first time in about 3 years but that was because one of the offices had a birthday celebration and after three hours, I couldn't stand it any longer.

I did remove the icing from the slice of cake before ...

  5. mixed open

    by , 03-21-2009 at 09:09 PM
We had a very well-attended mixed sabre open at FAP today--29 people. I had a tough pool--Andrew Herczak from Medeo II, William Zhao from Manhattan, Raymond Cai from FASJ, Joe Gwaikolo from FAP, and Ella Schwamm from FAP. In other words, I had one who ended up in the top 8, one who ended up in the top 4, and the second place medalist. My only win was against Ella. I can beat Joe, who is an epeeist and very fast, but not in a five-touch bout. However, my indicators were -5 so I acquitted myself ...
