Two weeks ago, I went to a local competition and was defeated 5-0 by a college student with a foreign accent who was (imho) a very, very good fencer. My initial reaction was reinforced when I directed a few bouts (the pool was self-directed) and then I lost my DE 3-15 and noticed how clean and tight his actions were. The walk for thought was a success today. We had a large group. We also had a good number of people stop by our table to learn about fencing and the hereto unknown chair fencing. Last night I remembered all my gear! We had a good group of adults there, a few who were nursing viruses- god, I better not get sick. There was one college student home for spring break, and it was so nice to see him in action again. There were more foilists for a change, but after an hour we all switched over to epee for awhile.
