  1. Cats and Waterbeds

    by , 03-23-2008 at 06:26 PM
We've had a waterbed for more than twenty years and we've had cats peacefully co-existing with that waterbed for an equal or longer amount of time. However, Simon Illyan -- the youngest addition to the household -- has developed a strong desire to CHEW the padded rails around the waterbed.

I should have paid more attention to this developing fetish before I stripped the bed this morning to wash the sheets.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a place that is ...

  2. Practice, Red Hair, and Roller Derby

    by , 03-23-2008 at 09:49 AM
Since my daughter had a roller derby bout Saturday and I'd decided to do something dramatic, I stood in the shower and sprayed my hair with a bright red -will-wash-out dye before going to practice. Only one person commented on this. Obviously, doing nutty things is normal for me and thus unquestioned.

I am back from the UK and they actually let me back in the US. I had a little easier entry into Atlanta this time. The time I came back from France with my wife I was percolating food poisoning from dinner the previous night. I believe they just recently reopened that mens room (it has been 6 years) with a plaque marking the tragedy that took place that day. Similar to the one outside Harrod's from the Irish bombing.

I did manage to work out 3 times this week at the hotel gym. ...

  5. Organizing lessons

    by , 03-22-2008 at 12:37 PM
I have a website I use to collect the ideas I have about coaching--mostly so I don't have to repeat myself to students or when I post on F.net--and I started to write another article for it a few months ago. My original intention was to write a quick one-off piece on organizing lessons, as a response to someone who asked me: "How do you always seem to know what to teach and when to teach it?"

I breezed through the first part of the article pretty quickly: organizing lessons ...
