    I have had an undistinguished meal after watching finals in men's 50+ sabre - Italian fencer defeated French fencer - women's 60+ épée - perennial Finnish fencer defeated perennial French fencer, or was it other wau round? - and women's 50+ foil - Jujie Luan won Diane Kallus took 3rd on the WE. Paul Hicha took out Wang Yung to get in the 8 on sabre and then lost on the 8.

    My hotel is a pit. Shuttles are unreliable. However, I do have wireless Internet access.

    I wish life would slow down enough so I could capture the moments I know I'll miss. No one can do everything, though I think I sometimes still believe that.

    I should fence a slower weapon. hahahaha. I remember life being a series of scales and chord inversions on the piano. Repetitive, boring, slow. And now that I'm not in practice, I feel like a normal college student. But I feel less fulfilled. Perhaps I should reroute my priorities in going to med school instead of trying to learn ...

    Mannheim, AL present. Drilled, then fenced for about an hour and a half.

    Lesson with Alex.

    1. M presents arm. S cut to top of arm. W/advance

    Eventually becomes:

    M presents arm, S cut to top of arm w/advance, M takes parry w/retreat, S cuts to opening line with lunge.

    Eventually becoming a cut to top and bottom, or bottom and top of arm, then....

    Also in reverse, w/M coming forward with presentation, student executing ...
