  1. Summer 2007 - Post Nationals / Some Thoughts

    This turns out to be the special summer of my revived fencing life; Vet season was, on the whole, good; renewed my B, but more importantly, fenced with a newfound sense of urgency, but composed action, and re-discovered speed in my strip execution. So results have been consistent, right up to the round of 16 where I tend to drop out, facing an implacable opponent. So that's where I am at, which feels good now at 46.   2. Outpatient heart surgery

    Not mine; my grandaughter's.

    I must be really, really old because the idea of heart surgery as an outpatient boggles my mind.

    I keep telling myself that medical science has made great advances.

    As for the granddaughter... the doctor's thought it was asthma until a nurse detected a whoosh sound while listening to her heartbeat. This has, obviously, not affected her development thus far but it explains the asthma-like symptoms.

    Epee night tonight. I arrived late and nobody else was there. Hung out, chatted with the coach, and eventually, MK2 showed up. I suited up.

    MK2 likes to beat-fleche... a LOT. While it is annoying that that is 90% of what he does, it does give me an opportunity to practice dealing with that. This is good as it is one of my weaknesses.
