I can't believe that my surgery is in 2 weeks. I am still trying to get over the news of my oldest Scottish Terrier. She seems to suddenly be very lovey and wants to be around us. I don't know if she knows what we are discussing or if she knows she is sick and so sticks close to say goodby in her own way.

Either way this has blown my concentration. I am listening to the healing session recording I have and it helps for a while.

I am back to the pool today and that always ...

  2. Pomme de Terre Preparations

    by , 05-22-2007 at 09:50 AM
PdT is exactly one month away. It's a big tournament and a bit of a financial investment for me (in addition to an eight hour drive) so I am going to put everything I can into my efforts to prepare. I will be entering men's open epee and men's unrated epee. My goal will be to do very well in the latter event.

That being said, I am starting off behind the eight-ball. I have been down with the flu for the last week and a half. I was planning on going to practice last night and ...

  3. Canadian nationals

    by , 05-22-2007 at 07:11 AM
I forgot about this blog after quebec provincials (partly because I did so badly that I didn't want to put the results out here on the internet).

Nationals were in saskatoon this weekend. I didn't really train very much before, first I had exams and then after I came home from Montreal to Vancouver I got pretty sick. When I was fencing in sask I was still a bit sick but it wasn't too bad.

I got there the day before I fenced and just hung around the venue the entire day, ...

It was slim pickings at the club tonight--Dapper Dan, Meng the Merriest, and later on Zev. Mark was having the kids work on pulling the distance, and I heard him telling one of his students that at yesterday's tournament I was the only one playing with that. News to me.

When I came in, Ahren was working with Cricket. I didn't get a chance to talk to her but she didn't look happy. I hope she's not still under the weather.

Ahren and I talked a bit about the five-invitation ...

  5. Stupid Stressball

    by , 05-21-2007 at 08:54 PM
My other blog is getting taken over with scraps of dissertation, so I'll try out writing on fencing a bit here.

Well, to be truthful, my other everything is getting taken over with scraps of dissertation. My apartment is covered with piles of books, DVDs, cassettes, old drafts, more books, etc.

Going in to fencing is strangely stressful. Well, it's not strange that there is stress - it's not just training, it's also my job and I do still care about my own competing ...
