  1. Health update

I really hate the usage of the word "warned".

During the second period of a 10 touch (i.e. Veteran) direct elimination bout, having been warned in the first period that they were not actively attempting to score, the fencers contine to not actively attempt to score. The Referee should:
    a. Give each fencer a YELLOW CARD
    b. call "Halt!" Award each fencer with a RED CARD. The fencers will go straight into the next period of fencing, without the minut ...

  2. RU feeling athletic? No.

    by , 10-20-2007 at 11:38 AM
The tendonitis is somewhat manageable. [Pause to knock on wood.] I can fence as long as I'm wearing my sleeve cuff without any sensations of pain during or afterwards, although I do ice it ASAP to be safe. I do notice the symptoms (1) when I wake every morning; (2) when I do my arm exercises; and (3) when I do little things like zipping up my coat. No pain until the angle rises above 90 degrees and then there's a warning signal about the time the zipper reaches the top.

We started with four parries one target, then one parry ...

It has been a while since I have written. Work has been super busy and I am about to embark on a crazy travel schedule. Unfortunately a lot of one night hits so I will not take my gear with me to drop in fence. I have to say, that is one of the things I really love about fencing. There are clubs in every city and I have even fenced in the UK and Europe. What a great way to meet people.

Of course this does not mean that I have come to grips with the situation as a whole. One more kudo ...

  5. The ability plateau

Epee coaches that I have watched teach a lot of small, maneuvering steps, with multiple actions to the hand and arm. Yet excellent epee fencing seems characterized by taking big tempos at just the right time and making strong, simple attacks to deep targets.

How can this contradiction be explained?
