  1. NYAC Mercury Cup #1 (Saber)

Well. The season schedule has been posted on our division web site and the first tournament is a week from Sunday.

I am going to try to compete. I may get my head handed to me, but I was there 4 months from major brain surgery with complications and what was a ruptured artery.

As close as I get to going against my pledge to not letting this thing beat me,I have to look at where I am as opposed to where I could be (dirt nap) and just celebrate my success.

  2. That Really Hurt!

    by , 10-02-2007 at 08:02 PM
Coughed like crazy today and had to use my inhaler in front of my students, and in the evening when my husband and I were taking my mom out to dinner I alternated between incredibly hot and incredibly chilly. I felt light-headed and tired, too. However, I had a good appetite so I don't think I've got bad bronchitis, it's just my body doing its usual post-cold shakedown, plus I have to get up so early on days we're going to my mother's.

  4. The tactical Wheel

    by , 10-01-2007 at 09:28 PM
Ooooh boy. After six weeks off and a year without focus, I'm fried. No legs. No lunge. No breath. No distance. I did so well at all those tournaments using sheer slime, and also because, as Kirsten screamed at me when I was fencing her, "You're too calm!"

They've changed the junior elite practice Monday nights so that now, because sabre has its own night Friday, they don't drill with the foilists and may only bout if there aren't too many foilists. Tonight there weren't ...

  5. Weekend Fencing.

    by , 10-01-2007 at 01:52 PM
A recent post in the forum led me to give some thought to the tactical wheel and I realized that I really didn't have a clue what the tactical wheel was or how to use it as a learning tool. Thus, I made a tactical wheel and input a small amount of info about each spoke and hung it off my web site while I do a little more research and try to gain a better understanding of how it works.

I suspect it is much like writing in that first, you learn the rules and then you break them. [The ...
