    Danielle Kamis e-mailed me and said she was going to come tonight, so I had added motivation for getting there. I took a lesson with Ahren--working on advance/cut to head, lunge/cut to head, advance-lunge/cut to head with relaxed arm, breathing out, good lunge, the object being to get five in a row before he could make late parry, from each distance. I didn't manage from advance-lunge distance (only four). I forget what the rest of it was.

    Zac V. wasn't feeling well so he went to sports study hall. He looked as if he had been crying so I suspect it was emotional well-being rather than physical. Henri had a fever over the weekend and came to tell me he wasn't coming. I said he would default his DE then, and he tried to convince me to let him fence without sneakers. I said too bad. Max V. still has a broken arm, though according to the boys he was in the locker room when they were changing--he and his brother have an odd dynamic ...

    Promoting fencing is a hot topic for anyone that is involved in developing fencing. Go to any fencing practice and/or tournament and you will get all kinds of opinions on how to get more people involved into the sport. First and foremost we must let the American public know that there are more places to fence today then there have ever been before.
