  1. tactic time travel

    by , 12-30-2006 at 10:05 PM
I went in for a good portion of the last day of camp. MM had us do footwork, then bladework, then pair-bouting to different types of music --Ramones, techno, worldbeat. It was interesting.

MM then switched the coaches around--AL worked with the foilists and Maestro Vitepskiy worked with the sabre fencers. It was like time travel, because he showed us all the actions he used to teach me when I was taking lessons with him. He demonstrated the actions to the others by working with ...

  2. Winter Camp success

    by , 12-29-2006 at 08:01 PM
The camp was great. It was interesting to see all the guys back from college working with me to run the classes and put there input into the program now that they are in the NCAA. Philip is enjoying Penn State, Bobby is doing great at CH and Mike is number one in his class at Air Force.

It was great fencing with them in the morning and it was great to see the other fencers come in to fence with them. They are the legends of our southern school. The have what takes to be part of ...

I feel better now.
    However, no fencing for me.

The knee swelled up like a blowfish after the NAC C and it swelled up again this morning so I did the sensible thing: I contacted the PT. I now have instructions to stay OFF the knee. No lower body exercises except the ones I'm supposed to do at home for PT. None. Nada. Stay out of the gym. Do NOT fence. I see the doctor Tuesday and while none of us believe that I've reinjured it, the knee needs to be checked before I resume activity.

I had also told the PT what I'd done lately, ...

  5. Sheep & wolves

I just went in for a short while today. The warm-up was jogging, then skipping, with claps for change of direction and commands of "earth, sky, fire" (touch the ground, reach to the sky, do push-ups/situps). We stretched, and then played a game of "Borg-ball." Basically, it's tag with a ball, and as each person is tagged, he or she becomes part of the Borg and collaborates to get the rest of the people assimilated. After a bit, MM declared that the Borg, once assimilated, ...
