Alexander Massialas had his exploits in Korea honored by USA Today this week.  Massialas was named the USA TODAY’s Olympic Athlete of the Week following his 3rd place finish at the SK Telecom Men’s Foil World Cup in Seoul, Korea.

Alex is now ranked 15th in the world standings and is also a member of the US Men’s Foil team that took 7th place in the team competition at the SK Telecom World Cup.  The finish puts the US on pace to qualify a team to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Three US fencers rank in the top 16 of the FIE World Rankings in Men’s Foil: Miles Chamley-Watson (2nd), Gerek Meinhardt (13th) and Massialas (15th).

Congrats Alexander Massialas on your 3rd place finish at the SK Telecom Men’s Foil World Cup in Seoul, Korea. Fencing is becoming more popular World wide with the recent Blockbuster “Pirates” movies. Many people will need to travel to see their loved ones compete or experience this ancient sport live. Traveling don’t have to be as expensive as you may think.
