The US Fencing Association announced today that it has closed the application process and has a list of candidates for the national coaching positions for each of the six fencing weapons.

{sidebar id=1} The applications will now be reviewed by the US Fencing selection committee. The committee is composed of:

  • Mike Pederson – Director of High Performance of US Fencing.
  • Kurt Aichele – Executive Director of US Fencing.
  • Mark Stasinos – Vice President of Executive Committee of US Fencing.
  • Sada Jacobson – Athlete Representative and Olympic Silver and Bronze medalist.
  • Coaching Representative – TBD

Three of the programs (Women’s Foil, Men’s Sabre, Women’s Sabre) received only one application. Two applicants were received for women’s epee, 4 for men’s foil and 7 for men’s epee.

The selection will run until July 24th with the official start of employment being on August 1st.

The national team coaches will be responsible for the qualification of U.S weapon squads for the individual and/or team events to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. The National Team Coaching staff will prepare U.S. athletes for medal performances at World Championships, Zonal competitions and the 2012 Olympic Games.
