2013 NCAA Fencing Championships
Only 2 teams sent the maximum number of entries to this years championships.

Keeping up with all of the events in fencing’s world cup season can be quite challenging if you follow more than one weapon discipline. Not only are there world cups in foil, epee, and sabre but the NCAA Fencing Championships are in full swing.

2013 NCAA Championships

The 2013 NCAA Championships kick off today in San Antonio, TX and will continue until Sunday with 144 fencers competing in a round-robin 5-touch format. The top 4 fencers from each event will then face-off in 15-touch bouts for the title of NCAA Champion.

In addition to the individual title, fencers will be vying for the overall team championship as well. Only two schools, Notre Dame and Princeton, qualified the maximum 12 fencers to the competition, but both trail top ranked Penn State in the standings going into the event.  The full school rankings are based off the most recent Collegefencing360 poll.

ESPN will also live stream the finals via the web. The men’s finals will be available at 2:45 EDT Friday March 22nd. The women’s finals will be available at 2:45 EDT Sunday March 24th.

Will Limardo add to his medal count this weekend?

The Vancouver Men’s Épée Grand Prix is one of only three Men’s Épée Grand Prix competitions to be held in the 2012/13 fencing season, and the only in North America. It is worth twice the points of a non-Grand Prix World Cup, which means that many of the best fencers in the world, the athletes attempting to win the coveted title of overall world cup points leader, will be in attendance. Live results will be available from the official site: http://www.vancouvergp.com/Results.php

Men’s Foil World Cup: Bonn

Most of the top US men’s foil fencers will be at the NCAA Championships, leaving the task up to Race Imboden as the lone entry from the USA. Follow the results live at FencingWorldwide, and discuss the results on our forum thread.
